Opening in 2010, The Backspace was been Austin’s first Neapolitan pizzeria, founded by local chef-owner Shawn Cirkiel under his Parkside Projects group.
Nestled just off Sixth Street, the intimate 30-seat dining room centers around a hand-built wood-fired brick oven. We stick to Neapolitan tradition: dough made with imported Italian flour and San Marzano tomatoes, each pie baked to a crisp and airy perfection.
A revolving selection of seasonal antipasti reflects Italian regional flavors in small-plate form. Our all‑Italian wine and beer list, including classics like Peroni on tap, is curated as its own highlight of the experience.
